About our jams:
We are on a mission to preserve the craft of the family farm. Preserving the harvest. Putting it up. Having that perfect bite of summer any time of year.

Traditional preservation methods allow us to use much less sugar than store-bought jams and jellies. "Old school” methods partnered with peak season local fruit, produces that perfect bite.

We are committed to supporting local agriculture. Fruit is grown within 50 miles of our Portage Co., Ohio home and we pick much of it ourselves. We have small berry patches and a market garden where we grow select summer staple vegetables along with a wide variety of specialty peppers and herbs, many of which make their way into our jams. And each year we plant more perennials and berries on the farm for
future preserves.

From seeking out trusted farmers and hand picking and processing the fruit, to standing at the stovetop for hours – a lot of time, work, and genuine love for the craft go into our jams and jellies.
And you can taste it.

About our family and our farm:
Lizette and Mike were married in 2011 and moved to the Royer Family farm in 2013, land that has been in Lizette’s family for over 100 years. Their children, Ellie and Max, are the 5th generation to run wild on this land and dig in its dirt.

Lizette’s love for local fruit came from eating her Grandma Iris’s strawberry freezer jam and picking plenty of wild black raspberries as a child. Mike grew up gardening with his parents, Diane and Keith, a tradition he carries on with his own children.

As a family they raise chickens for meat and eggs, heritage breed turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday, and spend much of their time in their garden.

Keith, a master gardener, and Diane, a master at preserving the harvest, make the family business twice as strong. Both are avid gardeners and truly love growing food for family and friends. Their skills and knowledge are the guiding light and truly the glue that holds it all together.

Mike and Keith pick the fruit; Lizette and Diane make the jam; Ellie and Max do plenty of tasting; and together they are Barton Farms and Gardens.
